Applicants Currently Attending a School Outside of the Cobb County School District

Admissions Testing for Non-CCSD Students has been postponed until Saturday, January 14.

Student safety is a top priority for the Cobb County School district, and due to the potential for inclement weather on Friday night and Saturday morning, we are moving the Magnet Admissions Exam to next Saturday, January 14th.  The other details regarding the test administration will remain the same—the location will be Campbell High School, drop off by last name will be from 8:00 – 8:45 AM in the stadium parking lot, the test begins at 9:00 AM and concludes by 12:00 PM.  Please refer to the prior email message or the magnet program websites regarding those details.  If you have any questions, please contact one of the magnet coordinators for clarification.

Those students previously approved to take the late test at Kennesaw Mountain High School on Tuesday, January 10th will be taking the late test at KMHS on Tuesday, January 17th.  Dr. Ingle will coordinate that test administration and can address any questions about the late test.

We wish everyone a safe weekend and look forward to seeing all of you next Saturday, January 14th for the magnet admissions exam!

In order to apply to the Wheeler Magnet Program, you will need to access the online application which will be available on October 1. You can apply to any of the Cobb County Magnet Schools using this application.

Teacher Recommendations
When you submit your application, emails will be sent to your 8th grade math, science, and english teachers directing them to fill out an online recommendation. Please notify your teachers in advance that they will be receiving this email.

Standardized Tests
Please send us your most recent standardized test scores. It is your responsibility to send these scores to us or have your middle school send them to us.

  • Scores must be from a nationally normed test, such as ITBS (Iowa Test of Basic Skills) or Stanford Achievement Test. (Any score that indicates a national percentile ranking – NPR)
  • Scores must be from your most recent test
  • If you do not have either of these, please call the office to discuss other options (770-578-3286).

Magnet Test
All private, home school and out of district students who submit their applications by the posted deadline are automatically registered for the January admissions test. You will receive instructions about the test via the email of record on your application. The test is the PSSS, which is a version of the PSAT. Cobb County Magnet Programs score the tests in-house and do not deduct ¼ point for incorrect answers.

If your child is in need of testing accommodations, contact Dan Penick
